Research and Planning: E4 and the Brief

E4

E4 was created on January 18th 2001, It is owned Channel Four Television Corporation. It is aimed at 15-35 year old age group and shows shows such as "How I Met Your Mother" , "Rules Of Engagement" , "Misfits" , "The Big Bang Theory" Lots of American imports are shown on E4 as well as some original British shows. The American imports are more popular and are shown more regularly.  The Channel Four Television Corporation own other channels such as Channel 4, Film4, More4, 4Music, 4seven, Magic. They have a broad range of demographics from all ages to further increase market value and there advertisers outreach.


E Stings

An esting is a short ident on the channel E4.  They are played before a different television show and are usually stop motion. To get  the estings they hold a competition and take entrys from the general public. The competitions usually start at the beginning of the year. And end in the summer to match their viewer base.

E Sting 1


This esting is for a more mature audience. This is evident through the use of machines and the lack of creative characters although the letters have been given a life like feel. Its a comedy like most of the estings. It entertains you for a short peroid of time. It contains the idea of the two letters coming together to make the E4 logo.

E Sting 2



This esing is aimed at a younger audience who is more into scifi and space related past times and its use of bright colours, and characters. It is a comedy and purpose is to entertain.

E Sting 3


This E Sting was aimed at a younger audience like the previous E Sting's. It has a comic book feel through the drawings used. The pencil drawing is well made and the animation is good.
